Sunday Dusk Alone

I’ve been using the XF10-24mm to familiarise myself with the ins and outs of using a wide-angle lens. It certainly is a huge difference compared to using the 35mm F2 that I am used to.

One of the things I’ve learnt is that using a wide-angle lens with the way I see the world increases the feeling of ‘solitude’ and ‘isolation’.

Because I tend to prefer shooting ‘singles’ – the fact that the lens brings so much into its view tends to increase these lonely feelings.

The following were shot at around 6.45pm on an un-busy Sunday evening around the Upper Changi road area.

  1. That’s a neat way to go about it: using a wide-angle view to increase the sense of isolation. I had the 10-24mm for a while as well but the seller sent me a bad copy (chipped rear element!!) so I sent it back. I like the film-like edit you’re using here.
